Let’s be real, weddings have a lotttttt of detail. Even with something as seemingly simple as the wedding invitations, there is so much that goes into it. Paper material, design, verbiage, etiquette, assembly, RSVP return cards, postage, addressing, and more. Having a wedding planner can reduce your stress levels and give you peace of mind!

If you’re anything like me, you are SO excited to start planning all of the fun details of your wedding. You want to start researching and inquiring as soon as you get engaged, and I LOVE that. But there are a few things that need to be sorted out before we jump into things like wedding invitations.

Set your budget, hire a wedding planner, and find your venue.

Once you get that out of the way, you can start focusing on things like florals, design, and wedding stationery!

Find Your Vendor

Finding the right vendor goes beyond the price. Budget is a major factor, but you also want to hire a vendor that will understand your vision, have professional experience, and, most importantly, is trustworthy. Do some research! Nothing is wrong with speaking to multiple vendors to find the right person for you. In most cases, your wedding planner will have a list of vendors that they trust and have worked with previously. That is an amazing place to start! Another important thing to consider is your aesthetic. You want to find a vendor that matches the vibe of your wedding.

You can also go the online route! I LOVE minted. Their designs are gorgeous and they are so easy to work with.

Create Your Guest List

This is a bigger project than most people realize. I recommend categorizing your list and running these lists by both of your immediate family members to make sure no one was forgotten.

Consider the Timing of it all

Invitations should be mailed out around 8-10 weeks before your wedding. This gives your guests plenty of time to RSVP! RSVPs should be in about 4 weeks prior to your wedding. That way you can start finalizing the menu and numbers with your caterer, work on the seating chart, etc.

Your wedding invitation sets the tone for the entire wedding.

They are a preview of one of the most special days of your life and set the expectations for your guests as far as how formal the wedding is, the timing of everything, etc. You want them to be a beautiful representation of you and your fiancé and of the love you have for one another!

Like I said, it can be a lot. That’s why my biggest recommendation is hiring a wedding planner! For all my do-it-yourself gals out there, I encourage you to look into my Wedding Spreadsheet resource! This is the holy grail of wedding planning and gives you direction on what to do, when to do it, what to expect, how to keep it all organized, and more!
